The NHL persuaded it's owners and general managers to contact their players to discuss the lockout (there is a 38-day lockout that recently is happening and they just needed to discuss it with the player) last week. Team officials were permitted to talk with the players about the lockout from mid-week to friday midnight last week. Also the NHL is keeping a small group in the negotiations and prohibiting all owners and teams officials from commenting. But after hearing the players reaction people wonder whether the NHL still thinks the lockout was a good idea.
A player that shall not be named told his team that this provision basically meant that there pay cheque will be the same this year but the in years ahead there salary would be lower so basically there would be no difference it would just be like postponing an inevitable downfall, the team official was left red faced after that comment.
*Editors Opinion*
My opinion is maybe the NHL wanted to see what the players thought of this change.
Or maybe they were trying to find out how to save even more money and take away more from the player by looking for loopholes in their statements.
But I'm still confused in what the are thinking why prohibit all owners and team officials from commenting do they know something the players don't?
Why speak to the players in the first place ?
There are many questions going through my head as a hockey fan like many fans I just want this lockout to end and all this to be settled but unfortunately I and many fans alike will just have to wait.
